Closing ceremony of 150th birthday celebration of Mahatma Gandhi at ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata

ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata, 02.10.2020: This auspicious occasion (through video conferencing) started with welcome address of Hon’ble Director, Dr. D.B. Shakyawar. He highlighted Gandhian philosophy, principals and his contribution for the nation, schedule cast community and emphasized the significance of the day.

On this auspicious occasion, Hon’ble Director released a publication entitled “Compendium on trainings” undertaken by our institute under Schedule Cast Sub Plan (SCSP) for the year 2019-20.

Dr. Rina Naiya, Nodal Officer, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, presented week long activities such as, swachhata activities were taken up in the institute campus on 27.09.2020. Staff members have actively participated in this programme and engaged themselves in cleaning and spraying of bleaching powders in different places of the campus. The activity helped in disinfecting the premises for better hygiene.  A special lecture on “Gandhian principles and modern agriculture” was delivered by Dr. P. C. Sarkar, Principal Scientist, Chemical & Bio-Chemical Processing Division of the institute on 28.09.2020 through video conferencing. In this lecture he has highlighted upon the relevance of Gandhi’s philosophy in today’s society more particularly for rural development through agriculture. His informative and elaborative lecture has also featured with the presentation and discussion on “Gram Swaraj”. ICAR-NINFET staff members have participated with lots of enthusiasm in the debate competition arranged on the topic “Relevance of Gandhian Philosophy in Modern Life” on 29.09.2020.  A slogan writing competition on “Women in Agriculture” organized among the staff members of the institute. Tree plantation programme (30.09.2020) was also organized in which Director of the institute Dr. D. B. Shakyawar and Head of Divisions have planted different kinds of saplings in institute campus.

Prof. Probhas Mondal, Netaji Nagar Day College, Dept. of Political Science, Chief Guest of the program, shared his views regarding Gandhian philosophy, agriculture, khadi program, non-violence movement, Panchayet Raj, poverty alleviation and Gram Swaraj.

Nodal Officer declared the name of the winners of debate and slogan writing competition.

The closing ceremony ended with vote of thanks.
