Integrated programme on FLD of Ninfet-Sathi and onsite jute grading at Nadia district

August 6-7, 2021

Integrated programme on frontline demonstration of Ninfet-sathi as retting accelerator and onsite jute grading in six locations of Shantipur block under Nadia district of West Bengal were conducted by ICAR-NINFET during 6th and 7th August, 2021 in association with Farmers Producers’ Organisation, Garulia, Shantipur. It was conducted at Pabanpara, Bogolpur, Bathangachi villages on 1st day and Laxminathpur, Baganpara and Kulia on the 2nd day. Three hundred farmers attended the programmes physically in the interaction programme with scientists and technical persons regarding the advantages of the retting accelerator, to see live demonstration of application of Ninfet-sathi on fresh jute bundles during starting of retting process and scientific testing of fibre quality parameters.

Dr Biplab Saha, Principal Scientist and Head, QE&I division enlightened the audience lucidly about the activities of the institute, process and purpose of the development of this Ninfet-sathi powder and its advantages. He also described the processes of quality evaluation, quality parameters for determination of grades and use of instruments for quality evaluation. He emphasised on the importance of grading, and asked the farmers to go for scientific grading of fibre for getting proper price of their produce.







Dr Atul Singha, Scientist, QE&I division has demonstrated the application of the Ninfet-sathi powder on the jute bundles in the pond water. He repeatedly cautioned the farmers not to apply mud and banana plants as load on the jute stem bundles for getting better quality of fibres.

On- site grading of jute in respect of farmers’ samples were done and report has been communicated to the respective farmers by technical persons. Sh. Swaraup karmakar, Director, Nadia Organic Farmers’ Producer Company Ltd, Shantipur Nadia organised the programme at local level.
