Online Faculty Development Programme organized by ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata

September 13 to 22, 2021, Kolkata.

The ICAR- National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering and Technology, Kolkata, organized the ten-days online Faculty Development Programe (FDP) on “Natural Fibre Production, Processing and Evaluation of Value-Added Products” from 13th to 22th September, 2021.

In her inaugural address, the Chief Guest, Dr Sujata Saxena, Director (Acting), ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology, Mumbai highlighted the need of development of stakeholders’ friendly products for the benefit of the society.

Dr D B Shakyawar, Director briefed about the program. He accentuated on collaborative research work by various public and private departments to come up with innovative concepts which can produce a major impact on export policy of natural fibres and its products as well as in the growth of national economy. He also briefed the research contribution of institute to the participants.

About 28 participants across the country virtually participated in the programme. Thirty-three lectures and twenty video demonstrations have been covered. All participants were evaluated through objective type questions.

This is programme was aimed at creating awareness and updating the knowledge of Researchers, Academician, Entrepreneurs, Students and other Stakeholders on the prospects of Natural Fibre Processing; Value addition and their evaluation and promotion.

In his address, Dr S M Ishtiaque, Emeritus Professor, Department of Textile and Fibre Engineering, IIT Delhi, Chief Guest of valedictory function, outlined the current scenario of global demand of natural fibre products & need of value addition on natural fibres for their promotion. A book of papers has been released by Dr D B Shakyawar, Director in this occasion.
