Awareness-cum-Distribution programme of NINFET-Sathi (a jute retting accelerator) and other Agricultural Inputs to the Scheduled Caste farmers under SCSP@Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsav

30th June, 2021, ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata: The ICAR-National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering & Technology (ICAR-NINFET) organized Awareness-cum-Distribution programme of NINFET-Sathi and other Agricultural Inputs to 350 Scheduled Caste farmers of Agrani FPO under Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan (SCSP) during June 26-27, 2021 for initiating the Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsav programme by the Institute.

The programme was organized in collaboration with ICAR-Central Institute of Sub-Tropical Horticulture (ICAR-CISH) KVK & Regional Research Station Malda.   

In his address, Dr. D B Shakyawar, Director, ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata outlined about the role of ICAR-NINFET for farmers friendly technologies and distributed the NINFET-Sathi retting accelerator and jute seed drills to jute farmers. He emphasized the Govt. initiative for upliftment of scheduled caste communities through the SCSP scheme.

Dr. Dipak Nayak, Senior Scientist & I/c Regional Station and CISH-KVK and Dr. Laxmi Kanta Nayak, Principal Scientist, ICAR-NINFET, highlighted the importance of NINFET-Sathi and Jute Seed drill in the context of remunerative jute cultivation. Dr. V.B. Shambhu and Dr. D.P. Ray, Principal Scientist and inventors have demonstrated the technology to the jute farmers.

Dr. Sukumar Mandi, Joint Director, Directorate of Jute Development & Dr. Debashis Ghosh, Regional Manager JCI, Malda Region elaborated the role of NINFET-Sathi in Jute Cultivation for economic benefit of the jute farmers.
