Farmers’ Scientist Interface programme on Climatic Resilient Varieties, Technologies and Practices organized by ICAR- NINFET, Kolkata on September 28, 2021

The ICAR- National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering and Technology has organized a Farmers’ Scientist Interface programme on Climatic Resilient Varieties, Technologies and practices in purview of Natural Fibre on September 28.2021.
Prof. P.K. Das, Ex- Professor, Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, West Bengal & Ex- Scientist ICAR- IARI, New Delhi graced the programme. Shri S.K Loka, Deputy Director, Raj Bhasha Bibhag, Govt. of India were graced the programme as Guest of Honour.
In his inaugural address, Dr. D.B. Shakyawar, Director welcomed all the farmers attended physically and present online mode and focused the role of farmers to build a nation. He told that the farmers are the basic building blocks of any nation and without them a nation never progress. He also emphasized that the impact of global climatic change on agriculture is now a subject of major concern and we should think seriously about climate resilient varieties of agricultural crops. The researchers and scientists should state work on and develop varieties of crops which can more tolerate to climatic imbalance like flood, drought and other unfavourable climatic situation
In this occasion live telecast of programme by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India has been organized. All the institute staff and about 120 farmers from different villages of Maldah, Murshidabad, North and South 24 Parganas Districts participated through virtual and physical in this programme. Through this live telecast the farmers were made aware of various agricultural activity organized through the India, share the experience of progressive farmer from all over India. They also witnessed the release of 35 crop varieties of crop through this programme.
