ICAR-NINFET organized five days Online Training Programme in collaboration with MANAGE, Hyderabad  on Value Chain Management in Natural Fibres during December 20-24, 2021

ICAR-National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering Technology, Kolkata in collaboration with National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE) Hyderabad organized five days Online Training Programme on “Value Chain Management in Natural Fibres” during December 20-24, 2021 at Kolkata.

Dr. Mihir Sarkar, Director, NRC Yak, who graced the occasion as Chief Guest, emphasized upon the value chain management in natural fibres in the context of prevailing environmental concern and global warming. This kind of initiative would surely create a new acumen for preparing business type of model in the natural fibre sector, he remarked.

Earlier, in his welcome address Dr. D. B. Shakyawar, Director of the institute has enunciated upon the importance of natural fibres and the role of value chain and supply chain management for sustenance of the natural fibre sector.

Dr. (Mrs.) Sujata Saxena, Director CIRCOT, Mumbai, congratulated the team NINFET for organizing such an eventful programme and rendered his valuable address in value chain management in cotton.

Dr. Gouranga Kar, Director CRIJAF, Barrackpore appraised the initiative and illustrated the natural fibre production management system through a holistic approach starting from cultivation to post harvest processing for value added product development.

Dr. Anil Kumar Sharma, Director, Indian Jute Industries Research Association, Kolkata emphasized in his valedictory address that the concept of ‘waste to wealth from natural fibre’ is a major mantra for ‘vocal for local’ slogan as coined by our Hon’ble Prime Minister.

  Dr. B.Venkat Rao, Assistant Director (Field Coordinator) and Coordinator of the programme, MANAGE, highlighted the importance of the understandability of value chain management in natural fibres systems.

Dr. B. Gaesh Kumar, Principal Scientist, ICAR-NAARM and the theme resource person of the programme delivered two lectures in supply chain - value chain management and importance of market research in natural fibre sector.

Fifty (50) participants from fifteen states of the Country participated in the programme through online and offline mode representing Faculties of Universities, Scientists, Entrepreneurs, Research Scholars, Authority from the Industries, JCI and ICAR institutes were participated in the programme.

Dr. Deb Prasad Ray, HRD Nodal Officer  & Dr. Sanjay Debnath, Principal Scientists of the Institute coordinated the programme.
