ICAR-NINFET organized a Workshop on “Women Empowerment and Technopreneurship on Health, Hygiene and Environment”

ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata organized a Workshop on “Women Empowerment and Technopreneurship on Health, Hygiene and Environment” on March 07, 2022, jointly with ACIC, IIT (ISM) Foundation, Dhanbad in association with Washonomics Fulcrum Pvt. Ltd., Kolkata at Nari-O-Sishu Kalyan Kendra, Howrah.

Dr. D. B. Shakyawar, Director, ICAR-NINFET in his presidential address appreciated the preparation of sanitary napkins from jute fibre. He has pointed out that the technology needs to be nurtured further for its refinement, cost-effectiveness, and upscaling.

In his address Dr. Amit Shukla, CEO, ACIC, IIT Dhanbad Foundation has ensured to provide all kinds of technological and logistic supports by the IIT Dhanbad for its refinement and cost-effectiveness.

Mr. S. Bhattacharya, Director, Washonomics Fulcrum Pvt. Ltd. mentioned that ICAR-NINFET has made commendable research in this area that needs upscaling so that it could reach to large numbers of the population.

At beginning of the workshop, Dr. S.N Chattopadhyay, HoD, ICAR-NINFET briefly presented the technology of making sanitary napkins (feminine products) from jute fibre. He mentioned that a sanitary napkin satisfies the requirement of health and hygiene.

Dr. A. N. Roy, HoD, ICAR-NINFET has briefed the importance of the workshop as well as other skill development programs organized by the institute on manufacturing handicrafts and bags from jute.

Ms. Rahima Khatun, Secretary, Nari-O-Sishu Kalyan Kendra in her welcome address briefed the activities of the Kendra. Around 40 women participants, associated with Nari-O-Sishu Kalyan Kendra attended the program.
